DIY Lightbulb Vases

This DIY tutorial was recently posted by the Free People blog (click there to see the full instructions for removing the end of the bulb) and I saw it on Poppytalk.

Sadly I just took some incandescent bulbs to the thrift store since we’ve changed all our lights over to compact florescent. But I’m guessing if I peruse a few closets I’ll locate a few more Old School bulbs.

I think the results are beautiful and could be further designed into additional clever uses.

A few ideas:

  1. Christmas balls: filled with ribbons, dried plants, glitter….
  2. Holiday table display: a bowl filled with bulbs, each holding a person’s name or a sentiment on a piece of paper.
  3. Fill a bulb with seaglass and hang it in a window.

What uses do you think of?

Haven’t tried it yet. I love how these look and plan to try it as soon as I can find some incandescent bulbs in my house. If you click through to Free People’s blog it shows how to take the end apart without hurting yourself. As soon as I try it I’ll post the results.
