Green While I Wait

I am gathering all my favorite greens around me. The calendar says that spring is near, but the snow piles tell me that I’m going to have to wait a bit longer.

My wardrobe has gone more vibrant these days, as I dig through the closet and drawers to find a magenta shirt or cabled green cardigan. I have been washing and wearing my two green pairs of pants with regularity.

Last year my friend Denise helped me paint my kitchen the deep green of granny smith apples or fresh ripe flesh of avocado. Green with a healthy dose of yellow. That’s my favorite hue: also found in hyacinth stems or the pale green zinnia and sometimes in a bowl of picholine olives.

Here are some photographs I made yesterday of various shades of green I found in my studio.
